Project Two of Gallery Without Walls is here and the launch night was a huge success. Our partnership with Graffwerk has gone from strength to strength as we proudly present all of the work in venues around the city. The people who attended the launch night enjoyed browsing the various pieces of art and of course, got stuck into the street food which was part of the LCB Canteen Night.
What is Gallery Without Walls?
As you may already know, Gallery Without Walls is a collaborative platform for the distribution of curated artworks across multiple traditional and untraditional spaces. The aim is to increase the exposure of art for the benefit of participating artists, venues and the wider community.
Project Two takes a look behind the graffiti scene with guest collaborators, Graffwerk. The project is to be known as ‘TAGS, TRAINS AND FRAMES. Behind the scene with Graffwerk’.
The LCB depot attracted crowds of people for the monthly canteen night and launch of GWW02. The visitors commented on just how impressed they were with the pieces submitted by the various artists. The artwork includes works of photography, graffiti, street art and typography prints. Many people who attended also got their hands on signed, limited edition prints by the artists. At 9pm, a special after-party took place, which was a real highlight of the evening. GWW02 was even more successful than the first – setting a high standard to be met for GWW03.
To everyone who didn’t make it to the event, there’s no need to be disappointed! The artwork showcased at the launch night will be displayed at selected venues. Similarly to Project One, we have partnered with many public spaces and venues across Leicester to give a diverse, yet incredibly exciting exhibition throughout the city. The art is definitely not to be missed. The chosen venues include:
- The Exchange
- Manhattan 34
- LCB Depot
- Peter’s Pizzeria
- The Adult Education Centre
Remember…all of the artwork will shortly be distributed to the participating venues. Keep an eye on the social pages to find out more.
